DIVISIONALS EVENTS

Good afternoon Parents and Swimmers

i've had lots of questions regarding the meet this weekend.  Hopefully I can answer most of your questions:

1.  DIVISIONAL MEET - is our big end of season meet for the majority of our swimmers.  We gather the 5 teams we've competed against throughout the summer plus our team for a 6 team divisional swim meet.  Yes, that means we all swim in one BIG meet.  It is so BIG, we have a PEP RALLY to pump everyone up for the meet.  We encourage all swimmers to get pumped by decorating posters, cars, bikes, pets etc, making skits, cheers songs etc to share with all of us at the pep rally.  And be sure to catch the annual Coaches' Skit that is sure to amaze all!  Come join in the fun - bring a dish.  let everyone else do the cooking and enjoy some "fun" time at the pool!

2.  DIVISIONAL EVENTS - We do our best to get everyone legal in all the strokes but that doesn't always happen.  Each swimmer is allowed to swim in 3 individual events and 2 relays in the dual meets.  At divisionals you are allowed the same HOWEVER for the 3 individual events you must have swum the event without disqualification at one of the meets during the season (not including time trials).  If the event was swum and a time recorded legally, then we can choose that event.  If the event was swum but received a DQ, and was never swum legally, we can't use that as an option for one of our 3 individual events.  Therefore, some of our new swimmers or younger swimmers will be limited to only 2 individual events this meet

3. DIVISIONAL RELAYS.  Due to time constraints, each team is only allowed to have ONE relay per age group for the Medley relay and ONE relay per age group for the Free Relay.  Most of our swimmers will therefore not be able to swim on relays and will only have their individual events for divisionals.  This is a perfect time to come cheer on the fastest kids in your age group and help them go faster

4.  PONDEROSA INVITATIONAL - This is our Post Season Championship meet.  It is a qualifying meet where the fastest in the entire Northwest Aquatic League meet to compete against each other.  (much like Divisionals but BIGGER).  Each year our own team has about 12 - 15 individual swimmers that qualify to swim at the meet.  As the host of the meet, our team bring all of our best relays to swim and compete as well.  It is a HUGE accomplishment and honor to be invited to be on one of these relays or as an alternate to be called upon should something happen to a relayer.  Typically, the swimmers that have been on the "A" relays are invited to become part of the relay in that age group for the championship meet.

hope that helps explain everything coming up.  if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
